>My Favorites have gotten to be a mess. Can anyone tell me how to put it to >rights? >Thanks, Jack Jack, I would suggest using Windows Explorer instead of the "Organize Favorites" choice in Internet Explorer. Your Favorites are simply a set of shortcuts and folders on your hard drive located in a directory called "Favorites" under the Windows folder. To open Windows Explorer, click your right mouse button on your "Start" button usually located in the lower left hand corner of your screen. Left click "Explore" from the short menu that appears. This program is used to see and organize all the files located on the drives that make up your computer system. The window is divided into two sides, left and right, which show everything on your system. The left hand side shows all the folders. The right hand side shows the contents of whatever is highlighted on the left hand side. There is scroll bar in the middle that scrolls up and down the left hand side. Scroll so that you see the folder "Windows" in the left hand side. If there is a "+" in front of "Windows", then left click it to turn it into a "-" so that you will see all the folders under "Windows" below it. One of these folders will be "Favorites". Left click on "Favorites" so that it is highlighted. You will see the contents of "Favorites" on the right hand side. I would now suggest you change your view by left clicking "View" at the top to bring down a menu, and the clicking "Details". This will show you much more information on the right hand side about each of the items within "Favorites." Just above those folders and shortcuts listed in "Favorites" on the right hand side are some column titles such as: Name, Size, Type, Modified, Attributes, Last Visited, Last Modified Some of these may not be visible due to your monitor size and resolution setting. Left clicking on anyone of the column titles will sort that column. Clicking it again will sort in the reverse order. If you have 20 or more favorites, I would suggest creating folders to sort these in. To create a folder, left click "File", the put your mouse on "New", the click "New Folder." Then just start typing to give that folder a relevant name such as news, entertainment, or stocks. To move shortcuts to web sites from "Favorites" to the folders you created for them, highlight "Favorites" on the left and make sure the sign in front of "Favorites" is a "-". Then click and hold down the left mouse button on the shortcut you want to move and drag it to the folder you created on the left and release. Please visit "Inside Highland Lakes" community web site(http://www.Highland-Lakes.com). Here you will find an extensive list of links subdivided by subject to many of the places on the Internet you want to go! If your favorite site is not there, please submit a suggestion to the Webmaster@Highland-Lakes.com to have it added. Please include the address and appropriate subject heading(s) that it should be included in. Sincerely, Tim Moczygemba, VP, MCP 281 Communications Inc. http://www.Highland-Lakes.com |
