Subject: Multi E-Mail Accounts
I have a question regarding e-mail ... we have three e-mail addresses under one account. Why is it that when sending a msg from one of my children's addresses it always appears that it is being sent by the account holder ? Also, when e-mail is recv'd it stays on the main screen so that anyone can read them ... if my child gets e-mail from a friend it stays on the main screen so my son can see it and have access to read it. Thanks for your help Subject: Re: Multi E-Mail Accounts What program are you using to send and receive e-mail? From your description it sounds like it is Outlook Express. In this program, you can send e-mail from any of the accounts, but if not specified, it will send from the one set as default. To send from a different one, do not hit the SEND button, instead pull down the File menu, move your mouse to "Send Message Using" and left click the account you want to send from. As for receiving your mail, you need to create new folders for each of your other accounts. I generally leave the default account going into the inbox. Create a new folder by highlighting "outlook express" in the left hand column above inbox, pull down the file menu, move your mouse to "folder" and left click new folder. Type in the name you want to give that folder. Repeat for each e-mail address. You can also create sub folders by highlighting a folder and following the rest of the steps above. To get the mail to sort as it comes in, pull down the tools menu, click inbox assistant, click add, put a check in the box in front of "account" and click the down arrow to choose the account you want to go to another folder besides inbox, put a check in front of "move to" and click the "folder" button and highlight the folder you made for this e-mail account and click "OK" on each screen. Unfortunately, Windows 95/98 will not keep each of you from being able to open each others folders. You would need to go to Windows NT or some 3rd party application for that type of security feature.
